46 days…

Hello everyone!

Happy day to you.

As most of you know, I am pacing the Modesto Half Marathon this weekend.

I am really excited.

But, now that the Modesto Half weekend is here…

I realize that this means that the OC Half Marathon is coming up next.

In 46 days to be exact.

In 45 days, I plan to run my fastest Half Marathon to date.

Yes, the countdown has officially begun.

After such a ridiculously amazing race at Surf City in February,

I made the resolution to lose an additional 15 lbs in hopes that it would help me achieve my new goal time of 1:59:59.

Because obviously, the lighter you are…

The faster you will go!

Yes, you may call me Ricky Bobby.

And no, I will not come at you like a spider monkey.

The fact is that I have not lost a single pound since then.

Not one.

According to my fitness app, I have been gaining and losing the same three pounds since the beginning of December.

Really?

Seriously.

This is absolutely ridiculous.

46 days.

A lot can happen in 46 days if I let it.

Or nothing can happen at all.

It is my decision.

It’s officially time to get together… again.

Why am I telling you this??

For a few reasons..

  1. Because I believe in honesty, in keeping it real and in not pretending like life is hunky dory all the time. A lot of what I see on social media is motivating and inspiring, but it leaves those of us who don’t have perfect lives, perfect bodies, and perfect families feeling unaccepted and irrelevant. That is not who I am and is not what I stand for. I have bad days, I struggle with my weight… I am freaking human. I will never pretend to be anything less than myself, I will not apologize for it and you shouldn’t either.
  2. Because I need help! I need to hold myself accountable to the goals that I set, and so far, I am royally failing at doing so with this goal.
  3. Because I don’t want to fail! I want to walk away from my half marathon in May knowing that I did all that I could to run the best race I can. In order to do that, I need to refocus my energy into eating healthy on a consistent basis.

So, going forward, I am going to do the one thing I never do on this blog…

And that’s talk about my weight loss success/struggles on a weekly basis.

Stay tuned every Friday (coincidentally, after I talk about food on Foodie Friday) for an update as to how I am doing.

I would love your support and the accountability.

Hmm, I’ve had success with a combination of a near vegetarian diet (fruits, veg, nuts, eggs, cheese, and lean protein like turkey/chicken breast) and an insane amount of cardio which includes biking, swimming, running, and aerobic dance. Each activity is a 20 minute block. I start out on Sunday with one block, adding a new block daily till Wednesday, then a block is subtracted till Friday. Saturday is my day off each week but I stay busy with my domestic chores I ignore the rest of the week. It’s crazy but I love it.

Woohoo! 46 days is SO soon! You got this!

I just wrote a similar post about my struggles with weight loss. I agree that it’s important to be honest and show that you’re a real person and not a magazine model in perfect shape all the time. I’ve been doing the 30 day shred and that seems to be working for me (it always does!).

Love you stepping up and being accountable! I have one (never met before blogging) friend on MFP, and she’s a great cheerleader to help motivate, it is nice to know that there is someone else checking me out! LOL I hit a stagnant stage at the beginning of the year and am working hard to break through it, so I’m right here with you! 🙂

I’m in the same boat, 45 days to Boston and I wanted to be at 155lbs, Still have 10 to go. Are you tracking your calories? I use myfitnesspal, it helps to see what you are eating. You can use a computer or phone app to track. Don’t tell yourself you can’t eat certain things. Because you can. You set a goal of a PR at your next race. If that means more then what you want to eat, just remind yourself it is either your goal of a PR or the food. You are choosing one. If it is the food, then realize you will not get you PR. That always helps me. Good luck, focus on your goal, you will reach it if you do the work.

Thank you! This is exactly what I needed to hear. Weight loss is very black or white, you either want it and you make it happen, or you allow food to get in the way. I want to make it happen.

Good luck on your goal! Do you drink booze or soda? Quit! Easiest 10 pounds off in your life…except for the quitting part. Ha-ha
