Running Goals for the Rest of 2015!

Hey-lo there! How are ya?

I am surviving this Thursday… but it feels like it should be Friday for some reason.

Weird, I know.

Anyway, now that my 2 month venture into racing every other weekend has commenced…

(I am exhausted, BTW)

I am trying to refocus my efforts on the rest of the year.

Which means that it is time to set some new goals!

YAY!

Word.

Being a SUPER goal oriented person,

(AKA: TYPE A PERSONALITY)

I must have goals!

In all aspects of my life, I need to have something to work towards and achieve…

Otherwise, I feel like a gigantic waste of space.

I also like to write things down and make lists.

(If it is just sitting it my head, it might get lost!)

Seriously.

They say (I am not sure who THEY is, but whatever) that you are more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down.

So, I am making it known…

Here are My Running goals for the rest of 2015!

Goal 1: Run all of the races on my Running Calendar (Only 4 more!)

Goal 2: Lose 20 lbs by Rock n’ Roll Los Angeles in October (Let’s do this!)

Goal 3: Run another Sub 2 Half Marathon (and qualify for the USA Half Marathon)

Goal 4: Remain healthy for the rest of the year (Fingers crossed.)

Goal 5: Start a strength training program and be consistent (Seriously.)

Goal 6: Blog regularly for the rest of the year (You’re welcome.)

Goal 7: Ice, stretch and foam roll on a daily basis (Let’s prevent some injuries, dude.)

Goal 8: Run another Marathon in 2017 (I know this is for next year, but it doesn’t hurt to start planning.)

Goal 9: Start doing more than just running (ie. Speedwork, Hill repeats, Fartleks, etc.)

Totally do-able, right?

The most important thing is to get back to the speed that I was in 2012- running a sub 2 Half Marathon.

I learned a lot from allllllll of the half marathons that I have done this year, and my biggest weakness (aside from my lack of training consistency- Thanks running injuries) is the fact that I DO NOT do speedwork.

This is a big No-No people.

Which is why the only way I am going to achieve Goal #3 is by doing Goal #9.

Speedwork is so important when it comes to getting faster.

I mean it’s called SPEEDwork for a reason.

DUH.

All that is going to change.

Now.

Fo’ reals.

Do you have any goals for 2015 that you would like to share?
How do you set your goals?
Do you do speedwork?

Ditto to so many of those. I am doing ok for my 2015 goals so far but I know I will fall short of my mileage goal. So maybe that means good things for getting a sub 2 half at City to Sea? Fingers crossed. Good luck with your goals!

I share some of those goals with you! Thanks for writing them down for me 😉 I’m not quite brave enough to make a marathon goal, so we will just see how my first half marathon goes in October. I also need to do more strength work, big time. Plus sleep more and drink more water. Good luck with all your races!

Many of your goals are similar to mine so I may be following you a bit closer now just so I can see where I line up with you. I may steal a couple of yours though that I had not listed. Foam roller and stretching mainly. I hope to run sub 2 half here myself but due to moving across the country I had to move it form August to either September or October. I think you will easily achieve your goals and I will be in your corner rooting for you.

I looked at my 2015 goals a few weeks ago, and I basically achieved none of them. Yikes. Hopefully you have more luck.

I am definitely on board with Goal#5. I made my own little training schedule and printed it out with the days I am going to strength train now I just need to actually do it! Also, I would like to run my first half marathon in under 2 hours… fingers crossed!
