WTH Weather?!?!

I think that life is trying to pay me back for rubbing it in your faces that the weather here is so amazing…

because over the last few days, it has been ridiculously hot.

Ridiculously hot.

I took this picture in my car on Saturday.

Yes, that says 104 degrees.

Did I mention that we don’t have air conditioners here in SLO?

I was melting.

Dude… I hate the heat.

To cool myself down a little, I decided to have a protein shake for breakfast.

This was a great idea!

I used the CLICK Espresso Protein Powder that I blogged about a month or so ago?

Well, I pulled that delicious stuff out and got creative.

I added some unsweetened cocoa, to make it more like a mocha.

Here is my famous not famous recipe:

Choco’ Kickstart Protein Shake

2 scoops CLICK protein powder

1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

4 oz coconut milk

1 frozen banana

2 oz water

I threw it in a Jamba Juice tumbler to make it look a little fancier.

It was so good!

Fortunately, my mom decided to come into town and let me stay at her beach house….

which a 20 minute drive from SLO.

The weather in Grover Beach is usually 15 or so degrees cooler because its right on the beach.

It was wonderful.

I went out for a 12 miler on Sunday at about 8:30 am…

Scabbed knees and all!

I normally zone out on long runs and don’t think about much, so I didn’t really feel the pain.

This is one of the reasons I really love running by myself.

I get to just stop my brain for a few hours.

I felt really good, which was a nice change from last Sunday’s long run.

After an ice bath,

my mom and I went to go see World War Z in 3D!

It was my first 3D movie.

It was really nice to spend some time with my mom (she is pretty cool),

and avoiding the heat was nice too.

How was your weekend?

Do you zone out on long runs?

Have you seen World War Z?

Do you like 3D movies?

My oldest saw the movie and liked it, not one I have on my list and it has to be on the list for me to fork out the dough to go to one.
What kind of protein is in that powder? Soy? Or other?
I run 7 on Sat, that’s a long run for me so I’ll let you know about zoning out. When I ran a half 2 years ago I did a lot of looking around instead of focusing on what I was doing. I ran 3 last night without headphones though, I thought I’d see how it went. I didn’t die and I finished so I guess it went ok. Could I make it longer than 3 without them? Probably not. : )

Hey that is okay! 7 miles is good and 3 is good too! Running without headphones is my least favorite way to run… aside from running in the rain, so you are two steps ahead of me! Thats a good question about the protein powder, it is casien whey protein. It’s really good!

Not a fan of 3D movies! I don’t like having to wear the glasses (especially if I’m not wearing my contact lenses and therefore already have my own glasses on), plus it just doesn’t really add anything to my movie experience.

I love a long run on my own, love the chance to chill out and enjoy that feeling of freedom that only running gives. I hope your knees heal quickly! Can you get paw paw cream in the US? That’s magic stuff for helping with the healing process.

    That sounds SO hot! 0_o

I love zoning out while running. 🙂 Wish it would happen more often…

I’m not a huge fan of 3D, but for some movies it really *works*. Like Avatar or The Hobbit or Man of Steel from the more recent ones. I thought it didn’t really add anything to WWZ though. (But the movie itself was pretty fun summer entertainment. :))
